Left for work this morning in bitter cold and to my surprise found the entire block of Sellers Ave. closed and Chester Pike behind it. This one of the few remaining blocks that still has all of the original victorians still lining the street, all nicely restored, except for one... with so much potential. And I just knew when I saw the firetrucks and ladders, which one it had to be....
A great Queen Ann with lots of potential, and I would drive by everyday wishing someone would bring it back... but looks like that may be too late now. The 2nd and 3rd floors look pretty much done, but first floor especially being stone looks like water damage only - could it be saved? I certainly think so, but reality is it's easier to tear down and build more apartments.
Fortunately nobody was reported hurt. Hopefully at least some parts will be salvaged if it does get knocked down.

Boy what a loss.
Man that's terrible. I'll be posting tomorrow about one a few blocks away that will be torn down in a few weeks.
A beautiful 1890's victorian was just torn down a month ago in a town near here too. It was on the National Register and the ONLY historic structure this town had left. The city owned it and tore it down to build something or other. I really hate to see that.
Fires are one thing, but needless tear downs really go up my you know what...
the historic inn we just were married at in September was sold and reported last week to either be grossly expanded or torn down to make way for a much larger facility! The original part is circa late 1700's and in rest mid 1800's, and is in excellent shape. Never seems to end...
