The End Of Ol' Blue

So was getting a few loads of firewood with some friends of mine when some kid "falls asleep", drifts over and WHAM!

I was parked with my door past the pole, so he pushed the truck back at least 8 feet till the pole stopped his momentum. Luckily none of us was near the truck when he plowed into it.... but we watched it happen.

You know Newton's Law.... a log at rest wants to stay at rest.... well a truck load of logs at rest and a truck suddenly slammed into at 30mph.... the logs pushed the back of the bed into the cab, busting the glass in the process.

Good thing I finished the demo and bought most of the materials since I won't have a hauler for a good bit

Two More Beds.... The "Farm" Keeps Expanding

I built two more garden beds, this time along the driveway side. These will be for cucumbers. I built the trellis system again like I did for the snap peas/ string bean beds.



Speaking of snap peas, I just ate my first one today and the trellis system is working great.



The lettuce bed is ready for pickin... the spinach is just about ready too. The carrots in the back are doing much better than last year. I planted too thick last year and spent hours thinning them out!

More Uncovered Finds

I've learned over the years to comb through the plaster during demo cause you just never know what might have been lurking in the wall. These finds are not from the construction period. The pamphlet was slipped through the slats while doing a plaster repair on the stairs going to the third floor. The bottle and match book were in the ceiling. The floorboards above were removed at some point to run a circuit, so guessing that's when they made their way in the ceiling.

A Dirty "Clean Slate"

The demo work is finished on the two bedrooms. Time to pull alot of nails and start building some new closet walls and other modifications.
